MOVING TIPS

Moving into your new rental property can seem stressful and complicated, but it doesn’t have to be! Whether you’re moving from across town or across the country, by doing just a few simple things, you can make your transition a seamless one.

Before the Move

  • Organize and Declutter: Begin to declutter and organize your belongings, starting with deciding what can be donated, sold, or thrown away.
  • Change your Address: Since it takes a couple weeks for the post office to process this change, the sooner you set it up, the better.
  • Reinforce and Label: When packing your belongings, make sure you do so securely. Keep your delicates well packed and reinforce boxes to prevent breaks.

On Moving Day

  • Keep sensitive documents on hand–you don’t want to lose them in the move! This includes birth certificates, financial records, and other important information!
  • Pack an overnight bag so that you have easy access to your necessities.
  • Welcome home! You did it, you’ve moved into your new home.

After You Move

  • Clean first–it’s much easier to clean without all of your belongings unloaded.
  • Unpack by room to give the process an order and break down everything into several smaller projects. The more you break down the process, the easier it will seam.
  • Enjoy your new home! It’s been a lot of work, but thanks to your organization skills (and these tips), you’ve had a seamless transition into a gorgeous rental property.
